Company Profile
About Robert Mackie Of Scotland Limited
Established in 1845, Robert Mackie of Scotland is a premium knitted accessory manufacturer of scarves, hats and gloves, producing everything in-house in their factory in Stewarton, Ayrshire. With a focus on using mainly 100% Pure New Wool, they have 175 years of experience behind them.
With three distinct product offerings; a consumer focussed wholesale collection, Traditional Scottish Headwear (which is where the origins of the company began) and a bespoke design and manufacture service, Robert Mackie support many UK high street retailers & global brands. With a low minimum order requirement, in-stock items and flexibility around own branding and alternate colourways, their wholesale offering is adaptable for both retailers and brands alike. And for customers looking for their own designs & manufacturing, shorter lead times compared to the Far East, and low minimums from around 200 pieces and 50 pieces in each colour can be a great benefit.
Sustainability is a focus for this manufacturer, and in 2020 they invested in the latest machines that means they can not only offer shaped or seamless hats and scarves finished entirely on the machine, but manufacturing processes now result in zero waste during production. Vee Bed knitting machines offer gauges from 3.5 to 12 and allow for products in jacquard, stitch interest, plain and combinations of these. They also have a full finishing plant including washing and drying.
A Woolmark licensee and an affiliate of UKFT and Textiles Scotland, Robert Mackie are also a Sedex member (with SEPA Audit and SMETA Report), and work closely with the Ethical Trade Initiative.
