About J&D Wilkie

J&D Wilkie was founded in 1868 in Kirriemuir, Scotland as a producer of flax and jute goods. Since then the company has developed into synthetic technical textiles and expanded into a global business. The J&D Wilkie group includes Wilkie Technical Textiles, Jack Ellis Body Protection, Carbon Filter Technology Limited; all located in Scotland and Wilkie Technical Textiles (Jiaxing) Ltd, based in China. The technical textiles are woven fabrics in a range of constructions up to 520cm wide made from many different fibre types as required by the end use. These fibres include polyester, aramids, PPS, acrylics, PTFE, and polypropylene. The main market applications include filtration materials, coating substrates, composites and defence. Jack Ellis produce a range of protective vests both for stab and ballistic protection. They offer a made to measure service for customised high performance wear. Carbon Filter Technology produces activated carbon cloth which is used as a high efficiency molecular filtration media in medical, environmental and industrial applications. Wilkie Technical Textiles (Jiaxing) Ltd was founded in 2007. They produce a wide range of woven technical textiles both for China and the global marketplace. They also provide a sourcing facility for an extensive range of traded products.
